Types of Tea: Darjeeling, Assam, Oolong, Matcha and Sencha

A tour of the world's teas. From India come Assam, strong and malty, and Darjeeling, grown in the Himalayan foothills; from Sri Lanka, Ceylon. China gives us Keemun, smoky Lapsang souchong, Longjing (Dragon Well) green tea and oolong; Japan gives sencha, shaded gyokuro and matcha, the powdered tea of the tea ceremony.

White and yellow tea are styles rather than places: all true teas come from the same plant, Camellia sinensis, and differ in how the leaves are processed.
