How to Print a Large Print Word Search
A word search turns into a large print puzzle on paper, not on screen. Every puzzle on this site can be printed in the Large Print design: the grid spreads across the full width of the page, the letters are bold and sit in outlined squares so the eye can follow a row, and the list of words to find prints in bold 18-point type, half again as tall as the 12-point text of a typical book.

- Choose Letter or A4 paper.
- Download the puzzle PDF and print it at 100 % or "Actual size", not "Fit to page".
- Download the answer key as well if someone will check the answers.
Why easy grids
The page width is fixed, so the fewer letters in a row, the bigger each one prints. Almost all of the 233 easy word searches use 8 × 8 grids, with 6 to 8 words that run only across and down, which also keeps the search itself relaxed. Readers who want more of a challenge can print any medium puzzle in the same design.
For activity hours and care homes
Activity coordinators can print the same sheet for a whole group, free and without an account, and theme it to the season: Christmas, Thanksgiving or Halloween. To use names of residents, local places or a favorite hymn, make your own word search and choose Large Print before printing.

What makes a word search large print?
Large print usually means type of 16 to 18 points or more, against the 10 to 12 points of most books. In the Large Print design the grid fills the full width of the page, each letter is bold and sits in its own outlined square, and the word list prints in bold 18-point type. If the list does not fit under the grid without shrinking it, it moves to a second page.
Which puzzles work best in large print?
Small grids. An easy 8 × 8 puzzle has only eight letters per row, so each square can be very wide and the letters grow with it. A 15 × 15 hard grid still prints in the Large Print design, but each letter has to be smaller to fit the page.
How do I print a large print word search?
Open any puzzle on this page: the Large Print design is already selected in the download section. Choose Letter or A4, download the puzzle PDF and print it at 100 % or "Actual size". "Fit to page" can shrink the sheet. The answer key downloads as a separate PDF.
