Mountains of Spain: Teide, Aneto and the Pyrenees

Spain is one of the most mountainous countries in Europe. In the Pyrenees, on the border with France, rise Aneto, the highest peak of the range, Posets and Monte Perdido. In the south, Veleta crowns the Sierra Nevada; in the center lie the Sierra de Gredos and Moncayo. And the highest point in the country is not on the mainland at all: it is Teide, a volcano on the Canary Island of Tenerife.

Penas comes from peña, Spanish for crag. Penas and Perdido both start with PE.
